Walker Crashes WI Gov't Site
Can't find campaign finance data for your favorite WI candidates? Blame Milwaukee Co. Exec. Scott Walker (R), whose campaign finance report crashed an online processing system over the weekend.
Walker reported raising $1.79M in the last reporting period, with $2M CoH. But data from the 18,500 donors who gave to Walker's campaign couldn't load fast enough, and the campaign had to stop posting their data to let other candidates have access to the system.
Candidates upload their reports to the Government Accountability Board. Walker's campaign had to stop and "unload" their report, campaign manager Keith Gilkes said in a statement.
Walker has an early lead on his most likely opponent, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D). But Barrett, who got in the race about 10 weeks ago, raised money at a fast pace, hauling in more than $750K between mid-Nov. and the end of the year.
Before he faces Barrett, Walker will have to get past ex-Rep. Marc Neumann (R). Earlier this month, Neumann said he has given himself $1M in donations and raised an additional $248K.

Statement Regarding Campaign Finance Information System
MADISON, WI – The Government Accountability Board issued the following statement today regarding claims made over the weekend that a candidate’s report had crashed the Campaign Finance Information System:
“The Campaign Finance Information System did not crash. It was up and running throughout the weekend. No filers were prevented from downloading information, and the system has remained available throughout the filing period.
“There was a small issue with the system generating the Walker campaign’s report in PDF format. That issue has been resolved, and the PDF has been posted to the web site. Users interested in viewing Walker’s reports are urged to do so using the system’s ‘View Receipts’ and ‘View Expenses’ functions, which allow the data to be downloaded in Microsoft Word or Excel formats.”
Background:
Candidates, political parties and other state-registered committees have until midnight on Monday, February 1 to file financial reports for the second half of 2009.
Most Wisconsin campaign finance registrants file their reports electronically on the Campaign Finance Information System, which is available online at http://cfis.wi.gov. As of Monday morning, more than three quarters of the 1,270 registrants have already filed.
In anticipation of heavy system use by filers in the days leading up to the deadline, G.A.B. campaign finance auditors worked 12-hour days throughout the weekend to provide assistance, and will also be working late tonight.
Oh...a "small issue". Such as the SYSTEM CRASHING???
Gee, pretty quick with that release Mr. Magney. Could it be that Doyle's and Barrett (Doyle's third term)pushed your organization to get something put out?
Seems like it's time for an open records request.
The only thing that Walker's inept management has clogged are the toilets at the Milwaukee County courthouse.
Walker's contracting out of housekeeping has already improved the courthouse. The liberals want to divert attention from the fact that Scott Walker has raised more money than anyone and is leading in the polls by 10.
figures quite interesting, it turns out that for some, the crisis does not exist then ... shame that for many other people follow and fairly difficult.
