Why are some people worried that Mitt Romney is a Mormon? Why are these same people not just as afraid of Harry Reid, because he is also a Mormon?

I find it amusing to read comments made by those who support Obama and other Democrats. It is obvious they still believe that the only contributions made by the rich are those to Republican candidates.

That is not only inaccurate but, one of Obama's best friends was "Wall Street" and many of the most wealthy and influential people in this country.

My bet is, that is not likely to happen again.
And the lack of donations by those he has turned his back on, including many of the Jewish faith, will result in him being a one term President.

Romney would be fine if he had not been a part of the healthcare system of Mass. This will be his ruination. People will remember this. Christians have more in common with Muslims than they do with Mormons.

Whether that should influence ones vote is another question altogether. Mormons do seem to have a lesser proclivity than Muslims for blowing themselves up - so that's something.

Romney makes the right points in defense of the Massachussetts health care plan, but 30-second sound bites don't allow him to fully express what needs to be said. Try explaining in 30 seconds all the provisions that would not be allowed by the ultra-blue Massachussetts legislature and the difficulties in working with such a group. To me the very main point is that the people of Massachussetts *wanted* such a health care plan and it probably would have been much worse if Romney's veto power had not been in place at the time. Romney would never jam Health Care down the throats of the entire nation the way that Reid, Pelosi, and Obama did.

Here’s my take on Romney. I’ve read the many comments up to this point and truly see all sides and can understand your viewpoints.

I have followed Romney for a few years now he is a proven master in getting positive results. Look what he did with the 2002 Winter Olympics. Those Olympics were ridden with bribes and corruption and on the verge of becoming a total failure. Romney was selected to take over the mess which he did and totally turned it around into becoming one of the most successful and respected games in Olympic History, which made America proud instead of shamed.

Romney knows how to streamline and make things efficient. He’s done this in business and he turned Massachusetts financial crisis into a big financial State surplus. Mitt Romney also knows the world stage better then most in that he’s worked in the International arena with his many business dealings. He has a very unique perspective on how we can make this great Country of ours strong and competitive against the likes of China and the emerging India. etc.
And lastly, Romney’s a Hawk when it comes to National Defense. He knows that the only true respect we will get from the World is to be Militarily strong which commands the respect of these thug dictators throughout the World. No Apologies from this guy, not after all the good AMERICA has done in the World.

I like Romney alot. He’s a moral man with a great family. I would hope that he would inspire this Country to get back to higher moral standards that we had several years back, before immorality, sexual perverseness and pornography had penetrated many facets of our society. I long for the day when I was a kid and you could turn on the TV and watch all channels (3 at that time) and see nothing but good decent shows and programming. Now I panic whenever I see a kid turn on a TV not to mention the unbelievable pervasive acts that are available for all to see on the internet. I have friends who voted for the television whore in chief who are big enough to admit they made a mistake. This is really NOT relevant to this discussion but I'll say it anyways FOR CLARITY.

I was born a Roman Catholic and exercised that wonderful faith deliberately until I was 18. I then Joined a Christian non-denom church in Florida, very charismatic and very edifying. I later spent a little time with the Southern Baptist Chrch and on another occasion Methodist church and again I loved what I learned and the people I congregated with.
As of today, I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the last 16 years of my life and can tell you, with great sincerity, that this is an amazing and absolutely wonderful Christian faith.
If the objective for you is simply to draw closer to God, to feel of his love and to be edified by the process of life - to understand something about where we came from, why we are here and where we are going... then this faith has something to teach and is wide open to learning as well.
It is a wonderful faith and a wonderfully faithful and loving people. I'd say if you have the capacity, the personal strength to do your own thinking about our Father in Heaven and your relationship with him come and see what these "crazy" Mormons are really all about.
For me personally, it has been Christianity to the tenth power! Truly for those interested in growing and ascension - if that is not your bag then maybe it's not for you.
But - the very cool thing is.. you don't have to be baptized or be a member to come and check it out, hang out do your own thinking. I came for 5 years before I decided to commit to it - not becuase I was hard headed, but because it was that important to me. I am grateful to God for this wonderful religion and wonder everyday if I could be who I'm striving to be as a man, as a husband, as a father and as a contributing member of our community/society without the benefit of it's awesome influence in my life.
So just for clarity...
if you REALLY want to know ask someone who has lived it. God Blesses us all!

I wasn't reading this looking for a religious conversation, but if the comments you made are indicative of your experience with all the faiths you listed, then good for you. You seem to be happy with what you've found and certainly have expressed yourself in a way that does you and your religion credit (by not putting down anyone elses beliefs). I have to say all the mormons I know seem to be that kind of people. Easy going, likeable, down to earth people. I don't see them trying to take over the world, although sometimes they are a little anxious to get others to learn more about their religion...but if they feel about it like you do, it almost makes sense that they'd want to share it.
I'd vote for a mormon if he was the best candidate, if he's not it really doesn't matter, we've got to do what's best for the country.

Right after the Democrats took control in 2006 our country started to spiral downward. George Bush tried to rein in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. People think the Republicans are for the rich and maybe they are but the Democrats in Congress aren't doing too badly when it comes to money.

Our religion is actually "the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints", and yes, we are the Mormons. I appreciate those who have comments about us, and you're doing the best you can without having the time to know what we're all about. We're Christians, we believe in Christ, we LOVE our country. We support the Constitution whole heartedly. We love our fellow man. But mainly, speaking for myself, I am a patriot. My forfathers fought for this country. I have 8 great great grandfathers who fought in the war for independance and I am proud of the heritage they left me and I want to continue in their footsteps. I'm too old to go to war for all of you but I would if I could. What I can do is run for office, support those who support our country, teach my children and grandchildren etc what's so wonderful about our country and why we fight for our freedom. We also fight for the freedom of those in other countries.
Fighting among ourselves is counter productive. I supported Mitt Romney in the last election and I will support him again, not because he's a Mormon but because he's a great man and I believe he can restore what we've lost in our country. Harry Reid is a Mormon too, but a great disappointment. I could never vote for him. He doesn't have the moral fiber nor the wisdom it takes to be in the leadership of this country. I am the neighbor to a Mormon family. They are the nicest of people. They are a close family who love their children and the children are actually nice to each other. They look for ways to help their neighbors like taking dinners to the sick and shoveling snow for the older people on our street. They seem to be teaching their children to be of service. It is a nice thing to see a family that is not riddled with divorce but works together. It seems that Mitt Romney's family is also this way. They seem to have raised 5 nice young men. I am sure Mormons don't have a monopoly on good family values, but they certainly seem to have them. I would be proud to have a president that had these good values and actually lived them.
