DISCLOSE Act Up For Tuesday Vote
In an unexpected step, Senate Maj. Leader Harry Reid filed cloture late Thursday night on a motion to proceed to a closely watched campaign finance bill.
Reid's move forces a 2:45pm Tuesday vote on whether to move to the DISCLOSE Act, a bill imposing new campaign finance regulations in response to the Supreme Court's controversial Citizens United v. FEC ruling, which threw out limits on spending by corporations and unions to influence elections.
The bill, a version of which has passed the House after Dems excluded the powerful National Rifle Association from new regulations, is a priority for Dems in both chambers. The bill, however, appears to face unified opposition from GOPers in the Senate and potential opposition from a few Dems -- largely thanks to the NRA carve-out.
That means the cloture vote, which requires backing from 60 senators to succeed, is likely to fall short. Dems could then point to the vote as another instance of Senate GOPers obstructing Dem plans. Reid's cloture filing came at around 11pm Thursday night after a series of votes and procedural disputes snarled the Senate for hours.

This is an attempt to shut up grass roots (the people) so their liberal mainstream media puppets wont have as much competition in order to gain seats. The NRA has lost my support for selling out first amendment rights for their personal gain (idiots!).
The dems are elitists, and they don't believe in or defend your rights unless you agree with them
I've called my Senators and expressed my opinion to vote NO on the Disclose Act. At this point I don't know of anything further I can do. I will however remember in November and in 2012. Furthermore I have never been so involved trying to fight the Obama, Reed and Pelosi agenda. I promise to continue to speek to each and everyone I can to vote them and their agenda out in the coming elections. I hope you will too.
I am disgusted with what appears to be an almost total disregard evidenced by the current "RULING Party" to the voices of voting constituents of this country. Several legislative measures have already come to the floor attempting to place limitations on public input, and without a blush of embarrassment. Seriously, it would not surprise me if a bill was introduced mandating a form of "Divine Right of Kings" allowing incumbents a lifetime seat on the Hill without having to endure that pesky problem of periodic elections.
Of course the "Divine.." part would have to be engineered out somehow.... too suggestive of politically incorrect accountability.
I too promise to: Remember in November!
I just hope a stacked Supreme Court doesn't declare the election invalid... like in CA.
Much, MUCH more is needed.
Which is why I am running for U.S. Senate here in Maryland.
I know that Sen. Mikulski will likely vote for Reid on this assault on our rights.
We cannot let incumbents back in.
Remember November.
It makes you wonder who our elected official/government represent and what they are gleaning from their actions! November can't get here soon enough!
