Praising Gen. Petraeus and the surge is like praising the surgeon that reattached your arm after you lost it in a needless, unwarranted and unnecessary accident. Gen Petraeus did a great job but it shouldn’t hide the fact that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place.

Rightly so. He was really a secretary of defense contractors. His mismanagement cost many lives,

While the "surge" may have had a little to do with the success in Iraq, the real reason for the turnaround in Iraq was due to the Sunni's agreeing to work with the U.S. instead of against them. They wanted to kick Al Queda out and position themselves in a place of power for when the U.S. leaves Iraq. THAT....not the surge, is why things turned around.

No matter what the current American admin. will do, nobody can stop the Iranians (Persians), just look at their lunatic imams and ayatollah. On another note, my hometown had an anti-war vigil just about every month during Bush's term. These same protesters are now nowhere to be found. Now that their guy "Mr. Hope n' Change" is in charge, it's a GOOD WAR! Double down in Afghanistan and watch the body count rise.

Maybe Obama can pull a GW Bush and simply declare success while sacrificing more American lives and flushing away more American resources.
