Government jobs and public works jobs are money drains in that they do not generate income. They only spend, spend, spend. A business that only spends away its budget will never grow in the long run, never be profitable, thus will never be able to sustain itself, let alone grow and hire more workers. This model requires recurring infusion of dollars from the Fed Govt to survive. Which means more taxes from you and me year-in-year-out.

On the other hand, Private businesses watch their bottom dollars and balance sheets. Companies try to grow through smart investments and practices, thus be self-sustaining, prosper, and hire more workers as demands dictate. The results are more people employed, creating incomes, earn more $$$, thus pay more taxes to the Treasury, and hire more workers, without waiting for a tax increase from the govt to keep it alive.

Obama's tax policies the Republicans Oppose:

The president's economic stimulus package has sent more than $200 billion in tax relief and other benefits to mainly middle- and lower-income families since its passage.

The non-partisan Center for Budget and Policy Priorities reported on Wednesday that "Middle-income Americans are now paying federal taxes at or near historically low levels."

The average family of four right now is paying 4.6 percent of its income in federal income taxes -- the second lowest percentage in 50 years.

The 2009 economic stimulus bill actually reduced federal income taxes for tax year 2009 for 98 percent of all working families and individuals."

The health care bill passed by the administration, meanwhile, includes a tax credit that could cover up to 35 percent of the premiums a small business pays to insure its workers.

The Recovery Act, meanwhile, included such tax breaks as a $1,500 credit for home energy improvements.

Obama passed 25 separate tax cuts including $300 billion in middle class tax cuts -- one of the largest in history - as part of the stimulus package.

Right now, parents earning above $43,000 a year can receive credit for 20 percent of their child care expenses and may claim expenses of up to $6,000 for two or more children, resulting in a maximum total tax credit of $1,200,

Under the administration's proposal, parents earning up to $85,000 a year would receive credit for 35 percent of their child care expenses -- a credit level that, currently, is only available to parents earning less than $15,000 per year -- bumping up their maximum total tax credit to $2,100.

Under current IRS regulations, married couples filing jointly are only eligible for the full saver's credit if their adjusted gross income (AGI) is no more than $55,000. The new proposal increases this income maximum to $65,000 and also offers partial credits to families earning up to $85,000.

The new plan changes the existing formula for determining saver's credits to 50 percent of the first $1,000 contributed, meaning that families earning up to $65,000 would see a $500 credit if they contributed at least $1,000 to their retirement savings.

Under another of the White House proposals, the payments for a borrower of a federal student loan would be limited to 10 percent of their income above what the administration called "a basic living allowance." For a single person with a $30,000 income and a $20,000 student loan, monthly payments would drop from $228 a month to $115 a month on a ten-year repayment plan,

Finally the President is trying to extend the Bush tax cuts for all but the most wealthy 2% - who quite obviously don't need a break. Republicants lie that this 'hurts small business', this is false as small business owners are only taxed on what they take out of the business and pay themselves as income, if they use revenue to hire people, buy equipment, pay rent or business mortgage, etc. obviously that is not income, and they don't pay income tax on it. But the Republicans are trying to block this, because they are the party of the 2%, by the 2%, for the 2% and don't care one bit about the rest of us peons who make less than $250k/year in income. So if your taxes go up this year it is because of the Republican's blocking President Obama's responsible tax cuts for most of us (and tax cuts for the rich as well, just less than Bush temporarily gave them).

I own a small business and I had to let staff go because we weren't bringing in enough revenue to pay them. We don't need credits for new copy machines etc. because we can't afford the payments, so having the write off is meaningless. My parents taught me from an early age never to sign my name to any document that I hadn't read and understood. I don't think anyone in Congress (or the President for that matter) understood much less read the "stimulus" or health care bills.

Voting "yes" for a bill is comparable to signing ones name to a contract. No one who didn't read AND understand a bill should vote yes (they can "abstain" if they don't want to vote no).

Any Member of the House or Senator who voted for the "Stimulus" or the Health Care bills should booted out of office for failure to executive the responsibilities of their office. Only an idiot votes yes when they don't know what they are voting for.

Most small businesses are subchapter S corporations, which means the owner's income and the business profits ARE THE SAME. What is the long term plan after they've killed the golden goose (the american taxpayer.) After all, like any other resource, our money will eventually run out.... mine has.

The "rich" you so easily disdain in your hateful class warfare rhetoric are the people who keep this country going by paying out MORE than half their income to various taxes... all without a single thank you, and more often than not actual abuse by the likes of you the ungrateful. The vast majority of them have worked very hard to get where they are and deserve their reward. Our country was founded on the principles of self reliance and reward for the sweat of ones brow, NOT the principles of socialistic slavery where someone else determines how much of your money you are "allowed" to keep. Perhaps you would be less bitter had you heeded your mother and worked harder in school to get ahead instead of chasing skirts and smoking weed. Perhaps it's natures way of weeding out poor genetic material in the pool.

rabiddog9--well put! My parents started out with NOTHING, with NO help from their parents who had darn little, and made something of themselves. I worked myself through three degrees (with many obstacles along the way), spent many all-nighters studying and then when the job called for it, worked straight through the night. I married a man who did the same thing. And now we are the so-called "rich" that never-had-a-real-job-Obama and his followers disdain. If these people spent just half of the efforts they spend whining on developing a productive plan for their life and working it through no matter what the obstacles (i.e., get a spine, get some ambition and get some determination), they might just get a dose of how empowering self-reliance is!!

The Democrats will do anything to get re-elected -- even turning on their anointed one. Don't forget that these same Democrats voted for ObamaCare, the Bailouts, the Stimulust bills, and have supported every piece of liberal, leftist legislation.

I don't believe that all the Democrats are lying to save their jobs! Just the ones that are about to lose their collective butts. Remember when the Republicans were on the sinking ship, dying and screaming about how they weren't to blame that it was someone else. Well it seems to me that the Democrats are only doing now what the Republicans did a short time ago. We all know what is going to happen after the election, no matter who wins. Whoever remains in power will know that they have two more years to screw up America just a little bit more. So what you presently see the Democrats doing has been done by both parties for years. It will continue unless we stop it. Why take anymore chances, we need to impose term limits on all politicians and that includes Federal Judges. There is a lot of garbage and corruption that needs to be cleaned out of our government because it has been growing for 230 years now. Many Americans are united on this presently and after all, we shouldn't let a good crisis go to waste. We need to remove all incumbents and start over with a completely new batch of Congressmen and then, watch them all like a hawk lest they return to the ways of our present government. It is way past time for we the people to take back the helm of this ship and sail it on a true course of Prosperity, Honesty and Freedom.

As for the Dems, well, you have to say one thing about Democtrats that you can't say about Republicants: They're a diverse group, with sometimes differing views (and votes). Not atall like the Republiborg.

Come on folks. Lets all remember what the dems have done to us since they got the trifecta. They're not gonna change their ways. They're just shinin' us hoping we'll forget Obamacare, the bank bailout bill, and the breathtaking arrogance of Pelosi, Schumer, Reid, Frank, Dodd,and the entire host of democrats who used the Americna citizens as their personal toilets.

"Tom" and "DamnedLiberal" are the problem. It's not JUST Obama...it is the sad fact that we have people in our nation who think and live like these guys. Obama is the prince of FOOLS and unfortunately, we have many fools in our nation. I am not sure what causes this. I do know that Liberalism IS a mental disorder. It is an inconsistent, unorganized, undisciplined state of mind which is trying to make others live and act in similar fashion. Very sad.

This isn't at all surprising. With Obama's increasing unpopularity, it may be the only way house Democrats can hold on to their seats. They have to get as far away from him as possible if they hope to have any more time in office.

How can one man be so arrogant? Our current President certainly likes to flex his political muscle, standing HIS ground (not America's) and shaking his fist in the face of American citizens. I think he looks at himself in the mirror each morning expecting to hear, "You, oh annointed ONE are the fairest of them all!" Then goes into all the world, seeking all the media attention his ego can acclaim, screaming to the oppressed little monster inside of himself, "How do ya like me now?" He is a joke... a very bad one!
