Murkowski Targets Tea Party Express In Latest Ad

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) is going up with two distinctive ads on Thursday in her write-in re-election campaign, including one that takes aim at the Tea Party Express.

The ads are the second and third ads of Murkowski's general election campaign against attorney Joe Miller (R) and Sitka Mayor Scott McAdams (D). Since losing to Miller in the primary, Murkowski has been searching for ways to to wage a successful write-in bid.

One of the new ads is best described as a grudge ad, targeting the Tea Party Express, which spent big in the primary on Miller's behalf.

"Wait, the Tea Party Express?" a man says. "Isn't that the same California group that dumped half a million in Joe Miller's campaign?"

"Well, whose Senate seat would it be? Alaska's or California's?" a woman adds.

"So they are going to come up here and dump another dirty money bomb on Alaska and try to take our seat?" adds another.

The other ad takes place in a classroom and a teacher instructs voters how to write-in "Lisa Murkowski" on the ballot. "Now remember," the professor says, "you must fill in the oval, and spell Senator Murkowski's name correctly."

The Murkowski campaign has said previously that it is trying to think outside the box this year as Murkowski tries to pull off her write-in bid, something no senator has done since Strom Thurmond in 1954. Among the ideas being considered are LiveStrong-like bracelets featuring Murkowski's name that voters can wear into the polls.

A CNN/Time magazine poll out Wednesday showed Murkowski trailing Miller by only 2%. Polling a write-in campaign is difficult, though, since people won't see Murkowski's name on the ballot in November, they'll have to produce it on their own.

So...

(1) What political genius decided the best way to win in this year's political climate is to mock the Tea Party?

(2) Can I assume that it's the same rocket scientist who decided with their "Whose seat is it anyway?" question to remind people of the Scott Brown "It's not the Kennedy (Murkowski) seat; it's the people's seat!"

This looks to be an absolutely brilliant approach - if the goal is to ensure that Miller is elected.

IS it just me or does Murkowski look like one of those wizened apple head creatures...left under the bulb too long? Lose with grace Murkowski! You, Crist, and anyone elswe who cannot accept the will of the people should get out of politics. There is no chance of a victory here!
