Dem Poll: Bright Up 12
Rep. Bobby Bright, who represents one of most conservative Democratically held districts, is opening up a lead on his Republican challenger, according to Democratic polling.
The DCCC conducted the poll that shows Bright leading Montgomery Councilor Martha Roby (R) 51% to 39%. Greenberg Quinlan Rosner conducted the survey for the DCCC.
As with our last post, the usual caveat for internal polls applies -- they typically skew toward to the party conducting the poll.
This Bright poll is significant because it indicates that the Democrat is widening his lead. In a Greenberg Quinlan Rosner poll conducted Sept. 26 to 28, Bright led by 9%, 52% to 43%.
Bright has done virtually everything imaginable to distance himself from national Democrats and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). He was the first incumbent Democrat to say he wouldn't vote for Pelosi and he has aired an ad touting how frequently he votes with House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH).
The new survey was conducted Oct. 9 to 12 for the DCCC. It surveyed 400 likely voters and had a margin of error of +/- 4.9%.

While I have some confidence in polling firms like PPP (although less so now that they've aligned themselves with the anti-human Daily Kos site), Greenberg Quinlan Rosner is one that I find really suspicious. Let's not forget that a GOP tide in Alabama is likely to come waterfalling down from atop the ballot with the GOP running away with the Senate and gubernatorial races. That could really dim Mr. Bright's chances.
Roby's poll shows exactly the opposite of this DCCC poll. Bright and the DCCC are throwing the kitchen sink trying to save him and their majority in Congress. The momentum is with Roby. But if you don't like Bright's position on issues, just wait a while...they will change.
He might be up in the polls a little if voters believe the lies the DCCC is telling. It's ridiculous. Throw the bums out i say. I will vote for Roby.
So as more people in Alabama turn their attention to the upcoming election, Roby drops three points??? I don't think so.
I'm a hardcore Republican but I unfortunately know Martha. She has never done anything for me to believe that she should be in Congress.
Mitch - get a life. I am tired of the Democrats spewing their lies in an effort to scare voters. Martha is the true conservative in the race and is our hope to change the direction and leadership in Congress. Bright = status quo.
Bobby Bright sold his soul to the Dems to abtain their money for the election 2 yrs ago. Why would I support someone who does not have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and accept the result of his actions. Bobby "pledges" to do right if elected again to correct his poor vote 2 yrs ago for Pelosi. His vote then, not only aided her, but also placed the welfare of our futures in jeopardy by giving the dems the political clout needed to force policies down our throat that most people in Al #2 do not accept. BOBBY BRIGHT, YOU HAD YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO "STAND IN THE GAP" AND PROTECT US AND YOU FAILED.
