DSCC Moving Money Out of Missouri
The DSCC is moving TV ad money out of Missouri, a sign that the Senate race may be moving beyond Democrats' grasp.
Four Republican sources who monitor media buying and three Missouri TV stations have confirmed to Hotline On Call that the DSCC has canceled reservations from Oct. 11 to Oct. 25. The DSCC still has reservations in Missouri for the last week before Election Day.
"Yes, the weeks of Oct. 12 and Oct. 19 have been canceled for the DSCC in our station," Sean Kellerman of WDAF, the Kansas City, MO, FOX affiliate, said.
"They have requested cancellations," said Amy Warren of KCTV, Kansas City's CBS affiliate.
As with all ad buy changes, it is worth keeping in mind that they are fluid and can change at any time. The DSCC could still go on the air in Missouri during this time period, but it would have to pay a higher ad rate than it first reserved.
But at this point, it appears as though the DSCC moving money out of the state. The ad cancellations are an indication that national Democrats are growing bearish on Secretary of State Robin Carnahan's (D) chances against Rep. Roy Blunt (R), as polling shows Blunt with a sizable lead.
They also underline the fact that Democrats are increasingly on defense this year; the open Missouri Senate seat was one of their top opportunities to win a GOP-held seat. (Kentucky being the other.)
The ad buys also show that the DSCC is having to rethink where to invest. Recently, the DSCC has had to air ads to play defense in Connecticut and West Virginia, two open seats that were considered sure things for Democrats at the beginning of the cycle.
The DSCC has invested heavily in the Missouri race so far, shelling out $1.8M on three ads.

Wait - so my sister won't be in the Senate for me? Crap! No more stimulus?
What? My sister isn't going to win? Don't these people know we are political royalty?
As an independent, I'm not a huge fan of Carnahan or Blunt. But I am a fan of Susan Montee, the Missouri State Auditor. It's just unfortunate Carnahan's decline in the polls could affect Montee's campaign. She's excellent and has earned another four years, in my opinion.
ryan, I agree. She has conducted herself in a non-partisan manner and I liked the way she went after the speed trap towns with the speed cams. She even tried to be a real St. Louisan by getting her car robbed while attending the Muny Opera. I think her opponent is a RINO, but he will probably win.
I'm a farmer, and I know all my farmer friends are going to come through for me. There's lots of farmers in Missouri - and that's no bull!
"What? My sister isn't going to win? Don't these people know we are political royalty?"
Oh, and the Blunts aren't?
Unfortunately Carny will still be Missouri Secretary of State. Ugh! Carny, take your brother, Russ, and just crawl away! Be the first in your family to get a job in the private sector for a change.
Ever notice how all these Democratic families keep running for political office-Carnahans in Mo, the Daleys in Ill, the Browns in Calif, Dingle in Michigan, the Rieds in Nevada? then ask yourself-what other countries in the world where nepotism trumps expertise? Oops-in communist and islamic countries. After all, in North Korea, who succeeded Kim Il Sung? his son,Kim Jong Il. Who succeeds the royal family in Saudi Arabia? In Egypt, Hosni Mubarak wants his son as his successor. Same with Saddam Hussien before he was removed. So, it seems the Democrats now believe that family ties give them a "right" to hold political office? I think weve seen with Obama what that kind of "thinking" does.
This is a sign of a trend that will broaden as the time draws nearer. If the Dems are having to spend money fighting for Connecticut and Delaware it shows how strong the tide is running against them. With two big high-profile races soaking up the donor cash in the usually safe California, having knock-down drag-outs in Nevada, Washington, Illinois and Wisconsin they've already written off places like Florida where they also envisioned a pick-up. I think that control of the Senate is slipping away fast. Reid is toast, so is Manchin. The Obama legacy. The Dem lie that they are 'fiscal conservatives' who could be trusted not to run madly to the left the day after election day is totally busted.
Please don't forget that Republicans will have to win these races by at least 5%. Otherwise the dead and never existed Democrats in the inner cities will show up to vote.
With two years to serve as president,Obama has become a pariah in his own party, his shtick now self-parody, eliciting only contempt. His party has the unenviable task of controlling the damage he is going to do to their electability, without alienating the much taken for granted black vote, whose disappointment must be boundless. And what is going to be the effect on Obama of the blow to his Titanic pride that the looming electoral catastrophe portends? From celebrity to laughing-stock in two short years. How does any man with the least self-reflection keep up the empty show? Pitiable, but richly deserved.
Yeah Republicans Tea Party go ahead and celibrate how 2 faced can you get its throw them all out then keep the most sleezy one of them all Roy Blunt. Obama this Obama that 2yrs ago i heard if you think its bad now wait till obama gets in the stock market will fall to 4000 we will lose a million jobs per month he will take our guns away. There has been a complete turn around 11000 stock market jobs gained instead of loosing 750,000 per month retail sales up gm paying back its loan with intrest 40 years ago people would of said hes turned the economy around but he is still black. in todays politicaly correct world they have to make up an upsurd lie that the economy is worse. Roy Blunt and the lies will come back to haunt. the far rights stupiodity only empowers the far left i dont lnow whose but Roy Blunt had to go and you kept him big mistake are you proud
I am shocked that and media would release this type of advertiser information. I thought this type of information was proprietary to the business.
Roy Blunt went to bat for the widow of a deceased pilot who was being harassed by the FAA to the point of distraction thus resulting in a crash. For that he has my unwavering support...
Very few politicians would do that for a widow...

Lesser of two evils. Blunt's reckoning will come. But get rid of sis first.
