GOP Polls: Schrader Trails, Sanchez Tied With Tran

Republicans are increasingly bullish on picking up the seats of Reps. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) and Kurt Schrader (D-OR) based on recent campaign polling.

Internal campaign polls obtained by Hotline On Call show Sanchez to be tied with Assemblyman Van Tran (R) at 39%. The fact that Sanchez is polling below the 40 percent mark is a troubling sign for a 7-term incumbent, Republicans argue.

Another internal poll shows Schrader trailing state Rep. Scott Bruun by a four-point margin, 44% to 40%.

As usual, internal polls should be taken with the appropriate context. Candidates tend to perform better in their own polls, especially those leaked to the media.

Even so, these polls are very good signs for the GOP. Sanchez was originally considered vulnerable, then several missteps by Tran moved this race firmly into the Democratic column. The Cook Political Report currently ranks this race as Lean Democratic. Pres. Bill Clinton stumped for Sanchez last week.

And the Schrader-Bruun match up is quickly becoming one of the top tier toss up races of the cycle. Both the DCCC and the NRCC are spending heavily on this race.

Tran's poll was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies Oct. 13 to 14. It surveyed 300 likely voters and had a margin of error of +/- 5.66%.

Bruun's poll was conducted Oct. 13 to 14 by Moore Information. It polled 300 likely voters and also has a margin of error of +/- 5.66%.

Sanchez will beat Tran. He can't even pass a budget on time in Sacramento.

What is this "he" stuff goober? Truth is that Sacramento hasn't passed a budget on time since dinosaurs walked the earth. It is funny that the Democrats have controlled the Legislature since 1970 and you pin the blame on Tran for the budget mess in Sacto.

" Sanchez will beat Tran. He can't even pass a budget on time in Sacramento."

What about the budget that Sanchez passed this year in Congress? Oh wait! She didn't pass one this year.

Nice try, please come back and try again.

Sanchez has only a failed record in Washington, DC!

I would rather give Van Tran a try than be fooled by Sanchez once again.

Tran will beat Sanchez!!!

Sanchez's solution to unemployment and business, as she stated in the local GG Journal is to help get families and the unemployed, Gov. assistance. While Van's plan to help with unemployment and create jobs is...to create Jobs, Wow!, what a novel idea. The Facts are that Loretta is in a situation she never had to deal with before, a down economy. Things are not just taking care of themselves as it has since this fool has been sitting or traveling around, and it's now showing. She has no clue or experience to deal with these types of issues while Van is a real business man that at least knows what to do and how to do it. Loretta is just a follower, not a person that get's anything done on her own. Van should Win, but the average CA voter is generally to stupid to figure out what to do.

Tran will beat Sanchez on Nov 2 and there will be no doubt about it. Wake up now! as long as we still have Obama and his followers then this nation will get behind the damn Red China. Let go Obama, Pelosi, and of course Sanchez, and you will have USA back.

Roger Williams - You got the points.

Sanchez said that she does so much for the comunity, but look at her records on what she did in last 7 terms, and the district has high percent of unemployments and forceclosures. She should be gone.
